Say hello to KATforge Studios - a new family-ran game development studio creating fun experiences for players of all kinds. With two games already in the works, we're just getting started!
KATforge Studios started with Kevin, Annemarie, and Trevor kicking around ideas for what our next project together could be. We’ve always shared a love for video games, and with such fond memories of growing up playing all together, we decided its time to combine our shared entrepreneurial spirit and start making them!
Built Different from Day One
Our name comes from our initials: Kevin, Annemarie, and Trevor. As a family-run studio, we stay nimble, iterate quickly, and prioritize fun gameplay over profits. First and foremost, we are making games we would want to play ourselves.
We also decided to codify this with some core values for the studio:
Hammer Before Handle: Gameplay comes first. Everything else supports the core question: "Is this actually fun?" We prototype early, test often, and iterate until the mechanics feel right.
Bonds Forged in Fire: Great games bring people together. We design experiences that turn strangers into teammates and gaming nights into lasting memories. Some of our best friends are long distance and we want to play more fun games with them!
Precision Over Production: We take time to get things right. Quality over speed means revisions until mechanics feel perfect and polish until details shine. We are proud of every aspect of every game in our portfolio.
Two Projects, One Philosophy
We're launching with two games in the works:
Lextris takes word games vertical. When falling blocks meet word building, magic happens! Build words while managing a falling puzzle board in this fresh take on two classic genres.
Gear Goblins adds much needed depth to the idle RPG genre. Deep character builds, advanced loot systems, strategic combat, and meaningful progression that works whether you play for five minutes or five hours. No pay-to-win, just pure RPG goodness.
Small Team, Big Dreams
Being small means staying nimble. We prototype fast, iterate constantly, and actually read every piece of feedback. When you message us, you're talking to the people making the games.
These first releases are just the beginning of what we hope will be a long journey creating games that bring lasting fun without the junk.
