Terms of Service
Terms governing your
KATFORGE Account, games, Realms, subscriptions, and related services.
Effective Date: August 8, 2026
1. Platform and Realms
KATFORGE operates a shared platform for websites, games, applications, APIs, identity, billing, wallets, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). Individual
KATFORGE projects and products are called "Realms." Realms include
DarkerDB,
GrimVault,
Lextris, Gear Goblins, and other products identified as
KATFORGE projects.
A Realm is a
KATFORGE product or service, not a separate legal entity. KATforge Studios LLC is the contracting and billing party unless a checkout expressly identifies another seller.
Some Realms publish supplemental terms. Those terms apply in addition to these Terms. If supplemental terms conflict with these Terms, the supplemental terms control only for that Realm and only to the extent of the conflict. These Terms continue to govern the shared
KATFORGE account, identity, wallet, and billing platform.
2. Accounts
One
KATFORGE Account may be used across
KATFORGE and multiple Realms. Joining or using a Realm may enroll the Account in that Realm and associate Realm-specific activity, entitlements, preferences, and game data with the Account.
You agree to:
- Provide accurate and current information
- Maintain the confidentiality of your credentials
- Promptly report unauthorized access
- Accept responsibility for activity performed through your Account
- Use only Accounts and credentials you are authorized to use
We may require email verification, multi-factor authentication, or additional checks to protect the Services.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
Certain Services, purchases, or jurisdictions may require a higher minimum age. We may restrict access when required by law, platform rules, or payment-provider requirements.
4. Communications
We may send transactional or relationship communications required to operate your Account or provide the Services. These may include verification, security, billing, purchase, subscription, legal, support, outage, and material service-change notices. You may not be able to opt out of these messages while maintaining the affected Account or Service.
If you separately choose to receive marketing communications,
KATFORGE may send messages in its own name or on behalf of Realms you select or join. For example, a
DarkerDB member may receive
KATFORGE updates,
DarkerDB updates, or both according to that member's communication preferences.
Where permitted by applicable law, an Account may be enrolled in relevant
KATFORGE or Realm updates after clear notice and an opportunity to refuse. Where affirmative consent is required, we will request it separately. You may change marketing preferences or unsubscribe at any time. An opt-out does not prevent necessary transactional messages.
5. Acceptable Use
You may not:
- Violate applicable law or another person's rights
- Harass, threaten, exploit, or impersonate another person
- Access another Account without authorization
- Probe, disrupt, overload, or bypass security or rate limits
- Introduce malware or harmful code
- Scrape, automate, or resell the Services except as expressly permitted
- Cheat, manipulate results, or exploit game mechanics
- Reverse engineer the Services except where applicable law prohibits this restriction
- Use the Services to train, operate, or improve a competing product without written permission
- Access or use the Services in violation of United States export controls, trade restrictions, or economic sanctions
We may investigate suspected violations and cooperate with lawful requests.
You represent that you are not prohibited from receiving the Services under applicable export-control or sanctions laws and will not provide the Services to a prohibited person, territory, or end use.
6. APIs and Developer Services
API access is licensed, not sold. API keys are confidential and may be restricted by Realm, scope, origin, rate, credit balance, plan, or other limits.
You may not share keys, evade limits, use data unlawfully, interfere with availability, or represent that an integration is endorsed by
KATFORGE without permission. Additional API or Realm terms may impose attribution, caching, redistribution, or commercial-use requirements.
7. Content and Intellectual Property
KATFORGE and its licensors own the Services, software, designs, data compilations, branding, and other
KATFORGE content. These Terms grant only a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Services as intended.
Third-party game names, artwork, data, and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. A
KATFORGE companion service is not affiliated with or endorsed by a game publisher unless expressly stated.
If you submit content, feedback, or materials, you retain any ownership you already hold and grant
KATFORGE a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, adapt, display, and distribute it as reasonably necessary to operate, improve, and promote the Services. You represent that you have the necessary rights to grant this license.
Copyright Complaints
If you believe material available through the Services infringes copyright, send a notice to our designated copyright agent containing:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed
- Identification and location of the allegedly infringing material
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email address
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the disputed use is not authorized
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the copyright owner
Send notices to KATforge Studios LLC, Attn: Copyright Agent, at the postal address in Section 20 or legal@katforge.com. A person whose material was removed may send a legally sufficient counter-notice identifying the removed material and its former location, stating under penalty of perjury that removal resulted from mistake or misidentification, consenting to the applicable federal court jurisdiction, and providing a signature and contact information. We may forward notices and counter-notices to the affected parties and act as permitted by law.
8. Paid Services and Stripe
KATFORGE uses Stripe to process payments. When you create an Account, we may create a Stripe customer record associated with your Account. Payment details entered through Stripe are provided directly to Stripe.
KATFORGE generally receives payment-method identifiers and limited details such as card brand, last four digits, and expiration date, not the complete card number or security code.
Prices and material billing terms are displayed before purchase. Unless stated otherwise:
- Prices are displayed in the currency shown at checkout
- Taxes may be calculated and added where required
- You authorize
KATFORGE and Stripe to charge the selected payment method - A saved payment method may be used for the transaction or recurring payments you authorize
- Account-wide payment methods may be displayed for use with other
KATFORGE Realms when you have permitted that reuse
Removing a payment method does not cancel an existing subscription. You must cancel the subscription separately.
Digital Services may be available immediately after purchase. By expressly requesting immediate access at checkout, you acknowledge that beginning delivery or consuming digital credits may affect or end a statutory cancellation or withdrawal right where applicable. This does not limit any refund, cancellation, or other remedy required by applicable law.
9. Subscriptions and Automatic Renewal
Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the interval and price displayed at checkout until canceled. By confirming a subscription, you authorize
KATFORGE and Stripe to charge the selected payment method at the disclosed frequency, including when you are not actively using the Services.
You may cancel through the applicable billing page. Unless checkout states otherwise, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period and access continues until then. Canceling does not retroactively reverse charges already incurred.
Plan changes may produce prorated charges or credits:
- An upgrade may charge the prorated difference immediately
- A downgrade may apply a credit to a later invoice
- A move to a free plan normally takes effect at the end of the paid period
We may retry failed payments, request an updated method, restrict paid features, or cancel an unpaid subscription. We will provide any advance notice of price changes required by applicable law. Continuing a subscription after the effective date authorizes the updated recurring price disclosed in that notice, subject to your right to cancel.
10. Refunds
The following policy applies to purchases made directly from
DarkerDB:
- Initial subscription: We will refund an unused initial subscription when requested within 7 calendar days after the first charge.
- Renewal or paid plan change: We will refund an unused renewal or paid plan change when requested within 3 calendar days after the charge or change.
- Duplicate or erroneous charge: We will refund a verified duplicate or erroneous charge.
- Consumable purchase: We will refund a request made within 7 calendar days only if none of the purchased credits, currency, items, or other consumable units were used.
If a subscription was used, each Account may still receive one automatic refund per paid product in any rolling 12-month period, provided the request is made within the applicable refund window. Unused refunds do not consume this refund-after-use allowance. Canceling, re-subscribing, or changing tiers does not reset it.
API Plan use means a successful request that consumes paid API credits. GrimVault use means a successful analysis that delivers paid-only widgets or slots. Opening GrimVault, signing in, or syncing settings does not count as use.
Claim an eligible subscription refund automatically through the applicable billing page. An approved refund cancels that subscription immediately, returns the charge to the original payment method, and removes its remaining paid API credits, paid rate limits, and paid feature entitlements.
Because eligible subscription refunds are handled automatically, requests outside the applicable window or beyond the used-refund limit generally will not be approved. Contact katforge.com/contact for an unused consumable, a verified duplicate or erroneous charge, or a refund, cancellation, or other remedy required by applicable law. Outside these rules, payments are non-refundable.
Purchases processed by Apple, Google, Steam, or another marketplace are also subject to that marketplace's billing and refund rules. Nothing in this section limits any refund, cancellation, or other remedy required by applicable law.
11. Virtual Items and Wallets
Virtual items, credits, currency, awards, or wallet balances are licensed for use within the Services. Unless expressly stated otherwise, they:
- Have no cash value
- Are not deposits, stored value, or legal tender
- May not be sold or exchanged outside authorized Services
- May be modified, limited, or discontinued as the Services evolve
- Are non-transferable and non-refundable except where required by law
12. Service Changes and Availability
We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue Services, features, plans, integrations, or content. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, permanent compatibility, or preservation of every feature. We will provide notice where required by law or where a change materially affects an active paid subscription.
13. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the Services and may delete your Account through available account controls.
We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users or the Services, comply with law, address nonpayment, investigate abuse, or enforce these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute provisions.
14. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." KATFORGE DISCLAIMS IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR ACCURATE.
Some jurisdictions do not permit certain disclaimers, so these exclusions apply only to the extent permitted by law.
15. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KATFORGE AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR USE.
KATFORGE'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF USD $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID KATFORGE FOR THE AFFECTED SERVICE DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law.
16. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless
KATFORGE and its officers, employees, contractors, and agents from third-party claims arising from your unlawful use of the Services, your content, or your material violation of these Terms.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any legal action must be brought in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, unless applicable consumer law requires otherwise.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the updated version and effective date and will provide additional notice for material changes where required. Changes apply prospectively. If you do not agree to an updated version, you must stop using the affected Services before it takes effect.
19. General Terms
If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions remain effective. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent.
KATFORGE may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, applicable checkout terms, and any Realm supplement form the entire agreement concerning the Services.
