DarkerDB: Our Dark and Darker Companion, Built In-House
DarkerDB is KATforge's own database, market, and player-tools site for Dark and Darker - items, monsters, quests, perks, server population, and live leaderboards, plus the GrimVault price-tracking overlay. Built by us, for the run.
Every extraction run in Dark and Darker asks the same three questions before you've even opened a door: what's behind it, what's it worth, and is the server even worth queuing into right now. Wikis go stale, price checks in Discord take longer than the raid itself, and nobody has the full perk tree memorized at 2am. That's the gap DarkerDB was built to close.
What DarkerDB Is
DarkerDB is the newest project out of the KATforge Workshop - a full database and toolset for Dark and Darker, covering:
- The database. Every item, monster, quest, and perk, searchable and cross-linked, so you can go from "what does this scroll do" to "what enemies drop it" in two clicks.
- Market tools. Live trade-chat data turned into real price history, so you know what a Legendary is actually selling for before you commit to a trade.
- Server stats. Population and queue data across regions and game modes, updated continuously, so you know where the players (and the loot) are.
- Leaderboards. Season rankings across modes, kept current as the meta shifts.
Sitting alongside the main site is GrimVault, a lightweight companion overlay focused purely on market data - the price-check tool for players who just want the number, fast, without leaving the game.
Built By Us, For This
We didn't buy DarkerDB and we didn't inherit it - we built it from the ground up as a KATforge Workshop project, the same way PlayerTracker started as an itch we needed to scratch for our own Classic runs. Dark and Darker's economy and knowledge gap looked like exactly the kind of problem our stack is good at: real-time data, a database that doesn't rot, and tools built by people who are actually in the dungeon.
DarkerDB runs on the same KATforge platform as everything else we ship, and it'll keep getting features the same way our other tools do - shipped when they're ready, not on some quarterly roadmap.
